  • June 7, 2017 from 7:00 pm – 8:30 pm. Housing Resources for Individuals in Virginia’s Settlement Agreement Population. This information session will cover the Settlement Agreement’s provisions related to housing; examples of integrated, independent housing options; housing resources available to the Settlement Agreement population; and how to assess housing “readiness” and prepare for housing.
  • June 19, 2017 from 4:00 pm – 6:00 pm. Tour of Integrated, Independent Housing Options: Apartment with Live-In Support Person in Arlington VA. These tours offer the opportunity to see how individuals and families have put together enduring, affordable, integrated housing arrangements. The hosts will talk about the arrangement they created, housing and services resources they used, the steps in the process, and who helped along the way. This tour stop features an individual living in his own apartment. The property has below market rents, and the rent is made affordable by a Housing Choice Voucher for people in the Settlement Agreement population.   • June 21, 2017 from 11:00 am – 1:00 pm. Tour of Integrated, Independent Housing Options: Three Clustered Apartments with Roommates in Arlington VA. These tours offer the opportunity to see how individuals and families have put together enduring, affordable, integrated housing arrangements. The hosts will talk about the arrangement they created, housing and services resources they used, the steps in the process, and who helped along the way. This tour stop features three apartments where individuals live with their roommates in their own apartments. The property has below market rents, and the rents are made affordable using Arlington Housing Grants. The individuals receive in-home supports funded by Medicaid DD Waivers.   • July 25, 2017 from 6:30 pm – 8:30 pm. Wrap Up Panel Presentation from Parent, Individuals and Providers Who Have Been There. The Arc of Northern Virginia, 2755 Hartland Rd, Suite 200, Falls Church, VA 22043. This panel presentation comes after the June housing tours and features individuals, families and housing and service providers who will discuss several different approaches to arranging housing and services for individuals with developmental disabilities, depending upon the resources available. One approach features an individual who found several roommates to jointly rent a market rate unit. Another approach features an individual who rented his own apartment using a Housing Choice Voucher for the Settlement Agreement population and was approved for a reasonable accommodation for a live-in aide. A third approach features an individual who rented an apartment with State Rental Assistance and received supports funded through the Medicaid Elderly Disabled and Consumer Directed Waiver. A fourth approach features individuals living with roommates in apartments with rents made affordable through Arlington Housing Grants and in-home support services made available through Medicaid DD Waivers.
