Private Rental Housing with Market Affordable Rents

Market affordable housing is older housing stock with fewer amenities which does not command current market rents. Market affordable housing has no government subsidy as part of its financing, so it can be renovated, triggering substantial rent increases, or be torn down without penalty. Market affordable housing is critical housing stock for thousands of low income families in our region. Rents may still be higher than what individuals on fixed incomes such as SSI or SSDI can afford, but these properties may also be more amenable to accepting tenant-based rental assistance.
