Transitioning from the family home or a congregate setting to integrated, independent housing is a complex process. Individuals and families often feel they must be experts in real estate, fair housing and landlord-tenant laws, support services, human resources, zoning, and more. However, families who helped individuals successfully move into housing often say reliable, accurate information and a knowledgeable, committed support system is what made the difference. This section of the NoVA Housing Resource Guide is a toolkit that contains reference materials to help individuals, families and support coordinators navigate the process of planning for and transitioning to independent housing.
