Flexible Funds are a state funding source from the Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Services that are made available through the Fairfax-Falls Church Community Services Board to individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities in Northern Virginia who are (1) eligible for and/or receiving a Medicaid Waiver or transitioning out of a nursing or intermediate care facility and (2) moving to housing with a lease in their own name. Flexible Funds may be used to pay for expenses such as security deposits, application fees, utility deposits/connection fees, moving expenses, environmental modifications (that are not paid for by Medicaid Waiver), and temporary support services. Flexible Funds may also be used to assist individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities who receive Medicaid waiver services, lease their own homes and who are at risk of eviction. Funds can be used for emergency rent or utility assistance, unit repairs, specialized cleaning/extermination, and temporary relocation.
