State Rental Assistance Program (SRAP)

State Rental Assistance Program (SRAP) is a rental assistance program administered by the Department of Behavioral Health & Developmental Services through contracts with local public housing agencies. SRAP operates in over thirty cities and counties in Virginia. Eligible individuals must have a developmental disability, be age 18 or older, and be in one of the following categories: (1) transitioning from a training center, nursing facility or intermediate care facility and meet the level of care for a Medicaid Developmental Disabilities Waiver; (2) receive services funded by a Medicaid Developmental Disabilities Waiver; or (3) be on a waitlist for a Medicaid Developmental Disabilities Waiver. The Fairfax County Redevelopment and Housing Authority (FCRHA) administers SRAP in Fairfax County and the Cities of Fairfax and Falls Church. SRAP participants must rent housing in jurisdictions where the program is administered. Individuals must be referred by a Developmental Disabilities Support Coordinator employed by a Community Services Board or a private agency contracted by a Community Services Board.
